Amazing, you've stumbled upon West Coast Swing!

Find out more below...

What is West Coast Swing?

West Coast Swing (WCS) is a popular partner dance that originated from Lindy Hop in the 1940s. It's known for its smooth, linear movements, and is characterized by improvisation, conversation, and interaction between partners:
  • Linear slot: The follower moves to either end of a slot, while the leader stays in the center.
  • Anchor: Each pattern ends with an anchor, which stretches the leader and follower apart.
  • Improvisation: WCS allows for a wide range of musical interpretations and personal expression.
  • Conversation: WCS emphasizes conversation between the partners.
  • Adaptability: WCS can be danced to a variety of musical genres.
